A few juv LBBG's now turning up at this end of the estuary and no, I'm sure you're not misidentifying your YLG's!Tim Worfolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18081554391725867216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1089047804797090488.post-56485579850481191712014-07-20T12:15:15.144+01:002014-07-20T12:15:15.144+01:00Hi Tim - a striking looking bird - reminds me of...Hi Tim - a striking looking bird - reminds me of photos I've seen of juv fuscus but wings look spot on for ylg - am enjoying searching for ylgs in Exmouth but having problems photographing the latest ones. I haven't had any juv lesser black backs yet unless of course I'm misidentifying my ylgs!
Cheers,
MattAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12005197630915867345noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1089047804797090488.post-90661568307585041002014-07-20T07:58:17.539+01:002014-07-20T07:58:17.539+01:00Hi Jan and thanks

Add to that the number of really dodgy adult 'yellow-legged gulls' I seem to get (which are surely hybrids) and yes, I'm probably being over cautious.Tim Worfolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18081554391725867216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1089047804797090488.post-23812150306354148852014-07-19T20:05:51.754+01:002014-07-19T20:05:51.754+01:00Hi Tim!

The pale inner web of the innner primaries is a giveaway and the tail band is rather variable in michahellis (http://www.helsinki.fi/~rauste/juvmic/mictail/) Notice, however, in the far wing in the last pic, that the inner primaries looks all dark in the given angle.
